Carol Fonde grew up in Lloyd Neck on Long Island and began photographing the land and seascape at the age of seven with a Brownie camera. She graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology and received The Ford Foundation Fellowship For Visual Arts to attend Indiana University where she received her Master of Fine Arts in photography. Since 1980 Carol has lived and worked as a professional photographer and master color printer based in NYC and is internationally recognized for her expertise in the field of archival color reproduction.
Carol has printed for many celebrated photographers such as Richard Avedon , Helmut Newton, Annie Leibovitz, Christian Witkin, Bruce Davidson, Mary Ellen Mark, Steven Klein, Hiro and Brigitte LaCombe. She has taught at The Cooper Union School of Art, The International Center of Photography, The School of Visual Arts, The Maine Photographic Workshops and is currently teaching at Parson’s School Of Design.
Her fine art photography of the sea and landscape has been shown in numerous galleries and museums, including The Heckscher Museum, Edward Carter Gallery, The Neuberger Museum, Westwood Gallery, Woodstock Center Of Photography, and Sotheby’s. Her photographs have been exhibited in Ralph Lauren showrooms worldwide and are often used to support The Nature Conservancy. She is currently represented by Westwood Gallery and June Bateman Fine Art in NYC.
